| Pyrography
"Pyro" means fire and "graph" art". Thus Pyrography is creating art by fire or rather heat. It is sometimes known as poker work which is an echo from years ago when people put metal pokers in the fire and, once heated, then would quickly plunge the red hot poker into wood to create designs. There is no need for the red hot poker today! Instead, now there are electronic heating systems utilising different tips which come in many shapes and sizes. These "irons" are also today used not only on wood but leather, plastic, gourds, paper, egg shells, velevet and many other surfaces. |
